THERM-O-TYPE Laminated Business Cards

THERM-O-TYPE Zip-A3/Foil-Tech Laminated Business Card System applies single or two-sided thermal laminating film to pre-printed stock and then cross-cuts and slits business cards (or similar products) from the laminated web.

1. Print Business Cards 24-up

Using this system, business cards are typically printed three rows across on a 12 1/4" wide sheet with a 6 mm (.236") gutter between each row of cards. Cards are run using a 24-up format.

After the sheets are printed, they are laminated using a Foil-Tech modified to support 12" wide by 500' rolls of thermal laminating film. This configuration allows sheets to be fed, laminated and delivered automatically into a continuous web.

The lead edge of the laminated web is then loaded into a Zip-A3 programmable cutter/slitter. Lead edge trim off, business card size and crosscut gutter information is programmed into the Zip-A3. As a registration mark near the lead edge of each laminated sheet is detected, the Zip-A3 accurately advances and crosscuts the web using a guillotine cutter. Crosscut strips are then advanced through a rotary slitting cassette. After slitting, finished cards are delivered into bins at the end of the machine.

Programmable crosscutting and quick change slitting, scoring and perforating rotary tooling cassettes allow a wide range of products to be produced with this system.
