| A multi-function counter is now available for Super Quad-12 as an option. The multi-function counter is made up of a control panel/enclosure, an optical sensor, an electronic clutch mounted on the feed wheel support shaft and changes in the existing drive system. Using this option, the operator can select one of four counter
modes.
The "count" function provides a consecutive count of sheets fed through the slitter. A five-digit LED display allows a maximum count of 99,999. Once each job has been completed the counter can be
reset.
The "count-stop" mode allows the operator to set a desired quantity into the counter. Sheets are counted as they are fed. When the desired quantity has been reached, the feeder is deactivated. The "batch-pause" mode allows the operator to set a desired "batch" quantity into the counter. Sheets are counted as they are fed. When the batch quantity has been reached, the feeder will deactivate for a short pause to allow a gap to form between batches on the delivery conveyor. At he end of the pause, the feeder will automatically reactivate to feed the next batch. The pause time between batches can be adjusted using a control panel mounted potentiometer. The counter will display the accumulated count while individual batches are being processed through the slitter. There is no automatic shut off when the total quantity of material has been processed, just a total
count.
The "batch-pause-stop" mode works just like the previous mode except there is a total quantity automatic interrupt. This allows batches to be processed without the fear of producing an overrun on the job. The multi-function counter option will provide important features to all types of shops operating Super Quad-12 slitters. In business card manufacturing plants, having an accurate count as jobs are slit will guaranty that the customer is receiving a full order of cards and can be used to eliminate the delivery of overrun product. Greeting card manufacturers and announcement converters, who use the Super Quad-12 to slit and score product prior to boxing, can accurately batch count product as it is run through the slitter to assure an accurate count in each box. Specialty applications such as postage stamp booklets and medical test products requiring accurate slitting, batch counting and total count verification are also
applications for the Super Quad-12 equipped with the optional multi-function
counter.
The new multi-function counter, installed on the Super Quad-12 slitter, will provide THERM-O-TYPE customers with production enhancement capabilities that are unavailable on any competitive slitter. |
